From the A6

From the North – Stockport, Chapel en le Frith

You enter Buxton town limits and start to descend a hill levelling out at a mini roundabout beside The Wye House ( a Wetherspoon pub).  Go straight across that roundabout 

From the South – Matlock, Bakewell

You come to a roundabout beside a Morrisons supermarket – Go straight across that roundabout and follow the road to the next roundabout. Turn left

Then

After a further 60 metres, you will come to another roundabout. Turn right. After a further 100 metres, there is yet another roundabout.  Turn LEFT to enter the Spring Gardens Centre Car Park (see below)

From the A515 - Ashbourne

You enter Buxton and proceed to the first main traffic lights.

For Pavilion Gardens Car Park

Turn LEFT, proceed to the next junction at Bath Road; turn RIGHT and then immediate LEFT into Burlington Road. (There is limited On street parking on Burlington Road)  Pavilion Gardens Car Park is on the right hand side 50 metres before the junction of Burlington Road with St Johns Road. 

For Spring Gardens Centre Car Park

Proceed straight through the Traffic Lights, over the Market Place and down the hill, until you reach a mini roundabout; turn RIGHT, proceed past the Railway Station until you get to another mini roundabout. Turn RIGHT into Spring Gardens Centre Car Park.

From A53 - Leek, Macclesfield, Congleton

Traffic from Macclesfield (A537), Congleton (A54) all converges with traffic from Leek on the A53 as it enters Buxton.

Proceed down the hill and STRAIGHT through the first main traffic lights on St John’s Road.

The road levels out and just before pedestrian lights, turn RIGHT into Burlington Road. Proceed about 50 metres and turn LEFT into Pavilion Gardens Car Park. (See below)

From A5004 - Whaley Bridge

As you enter Buxton down Manchester Road, the road bears right near Cavendish Hospital and continues to descend. The Dome is visible on the left. There is very limited on-street parking in the vicinity so it is advisable to use the Pavilion Gardens Car Park. Having passed The Dome on your left, turn RIGHT in front of St Johns Church onto St Johns Road. Proceed to the first road junction, just after a set of Pedestrian lights and turn LEFT into Burlington Road. Proceed about 50 metres and turn LEFT into Pavilion Gardens Car Park. (See below)

Pavilion Gardens Car Park

Approx 430 metres to The Dome (level to slight rise)

Parking charges only apply until 6pm. £1.00p for 1 hour, £1.60 for 2 hours or £3.00 for 4 hours (source HPBC website). 

On foot, walk down the Pavilion Gardens Promenade to the front of the Buxton Opera House. Bear left keeping The Old Clubhouse pub on your left. Walk up the slight hill to the main road and then turn right. You will be able to see the Dome. Please take care when crossing roads. There is a crossing point a few metres further down from the junction with Devonshire Road.

Spring Gardens Centre Car Park

Approx 300 metres to Dome (uphill and downhill gradients)

Parking charges only apply until 6pm. 80p for 1 hour, £1.30 for 2 hours or £2.50 for 4 hours (source HPBC website).

The Car Park continues around the back of Waitrose and if you go to the furthest point of the Car Park, you are much closer to the Dome. There are steps leading up towards the Pedestrian Crossing opposite the Railway Station. Cross the road here and turn left. By foot, follow the main road round in front of the Palace Hotel which brings you to Devonshire Road and you will see the Dome.
