Once a A magnificent 18th Century stable block originally built to house the 5th Duke of Devonshire’s horses and servants,
The Dome is now part of the University of Derby in Buxton.
It offers a breathtaking setting for the inaugural Buxton Military Tattoo in 2010.

"The performance of Sunset is always moving but it is particularly poignant to hear it performed inside a building that was for many years during the First World War a military hospital; if anything can awaken the ghosts of those old soldiers it will be that!  Old soldiers in the audience will attempt not to cry; many will fail! "

This magnificent building gives an audience the opportunity to experience the powerful spectacle of The Buxton Military Tattoo closer to the action and the bands than at any other tattoo in the country, and as a bonus ......... protected from the vagaries of the British weather!!
